Participation requirements

Your entry must show significant relation to the current competition's theme: "Mover wanted! Civic Engagement of Generation 50+".
The call for submissions is open to people of all ages who champion the civic engagement of generation 50+. The initiative can already exist or may be only just realized.

Your idea should focus on voluntary civic engagement and should draw its inspiration as much as possible from the North American tradition of public spirit. (See "Philosophy")

Your project can relate to this philosophy or can be explicitly based on a best practice from North America: whether you build off the model of a working foster grandparent service in New York, take inspiration from the pragmatic self-initiatives of a Toronto seniors network or want to implement a California cross-generational living concept in Germany, all ideas are welcome where the elderly contribute their knowledge, their skills and their creativity towards social cooperation. We will gladly provide you with contacts in researching example ideas from North America. A list of interesting links can be found here.

What is required for submission?

The application proceeds online and consists of five steps:

  1. Your personal details
  2. The description of the initiative
  3. Details on the organization of the project
  4. Attachments - various documents that can be uploaded as files
  5. An overview of the information and then sending off the application
(Please complete all five steps, including the send, with your first login)

To assist you in the 5 individual steps, we have created a application guideline.

How does participation proceed?

Upon filling out the application form under Registration/Login, you receive user access to the subscribers area where you then follow the five steps outlined above. You may work on and edit each step at any time before October 31, 2009, even if you have already completed the last step. The steps may be executed in any order. Your application only becomes final at the deadline of October 31, 2009. Only the final version of October 31, 2009, is sent on to the jury.
