Dr. Ute Bechdolf
mastered in American Studies, Cultural Studies and Library Studies in Stuttgart, Germany and Iowa City, Iowa. Form 1989 to 1999 she taught and researched at the University of Tübingen in Empirical Culture Studies (Media, Pop Culture and Gender). Since 1999 she is Head of the German-American Institute in Tübingen, a non-profit organization where, with her team Ute Bechdolfs offers a broad program of cultural and socio-political events, language courses and information on the USA. Her core subjects are for example “Americanization and Globalization” or the question on “How American is Tübingen?” . With “Rent an American – the US attends German classrooms” in Baden-Württemberg she initiated a successful project on “civic diplomacy”.
