Volker Amrhein

holds a M.A. in theatre studies and philosophy. From 1982-1994 he worked as assistant director, applied theatre practitioner and culture manager. Here he made many experiences in cross-generational work from a cultural perspective. In 1994 he got nominated head of the model program “dialogue between the generations”, initiated by the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, from which the “Project Office for the Dialogue between the Generations” emerged in 1997. The project Office is in charge of the coordination, information and education of cross-generational projects and offers a wide-ranging service. The prophecy of desolidarization and “war of the generations” (Reimer Gronemeyer) is faced systematic promotion of new forms of civic engagement: the vision and hope is a community based on the principle of mutual solidarity between generations.
