Since 2005, the Körber Network Foreign Policy has gathered an exclusive group of young foreign-policy professionals from the offices of Members of the German Parliament, the Federal Chancellery, the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Defence as well as from embassies and think tanks located in Berlin. Chosen on the basis of personal recommendations, the participants of the Network regularly discuss challenges to German and European foreign and security policy with decision-makers and specialists. This open exchange of views is designed to transcend institutional barriers and stimulate the evolution of common foreign and security policy ideas.

Once a year the group embarks on a field trip in order to become acquainted with the hot spots of international politics on the ground. On these trips, the participants talk to high-ranking representatives of governments and international institutions, as well as to practioners “on the ground” in peace missions, military structures, or large economic projects. The members of the Körber Network Foreign Policy visited Belgrade and Pristina in 2005, Georgia (and Abkhazia) in 2006, Iran in 2007, Ukraine in 2008, Syria and Lebanon in 2009, and Kazakhstan in 2010.

Members of the Körber Network Foreign Policy will also take part in the Munich Young Leaders Round Table on Security Policy.
