Political Breakfast with Vuk Jeremic
Berlin, November 8, 2007
|
Vuk Jeremic, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Serbia, addressed members of the German Bundestag and representatives of the Federal Foreign Office as well as members of the Federal Defence Ministry and the Bundeswehr on the current priorities of Serbian foreign policy. He touched upon the leeway in the negotiations on the future status of Kosovo, the difference in weighting attached to the principle of territorial integrity vs. the right to self-determination as well as the possible consequences of a unilateral declaration of independence following 10 December for the regional stability and the process of European integration of Serbia and the Western Balkan.
This background discussion sets forth the Körber Foundation’s continuing interest in the developments in South Eastern Europe, in the framework of which Political Breakfasts have been conducted with Wolfgang Ischinger, the EU representative at the Kosovo Status Talks, and with Martti Ahtisaari, the former UN Special Envoy for Kosovo; and the Körber Network Foreign Policy has mounted a field trip to Kosovo and Serbia.
The Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of senior Berlin foreign policy players to its Political Breakfasts. As in the Bergedorf Round Table, the discussions take place confidentially and away from public attention.
