Berlin, October 23, 2007
|
Konstantin Grishchenko, former Foreign Minister of Ukraine and Foreign Policy Advisor to the Ukrainian Prime Minister, addressed members of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the German Bundestag Parliament as well as representatives of the Foreign Ministry and of think tanks on the political developments in Ukraine following the parliamentary elections and on the relations with Russia, the EU and NATO.
The Advisor to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych also elaborated on the Ukrainian-Russian energy relations, the process of his country’s accession to the WTO and the CFE Treaty. Grishchenko does not expect any new adjustment of Ukrainian foreign policy by the future government and advocated the European integration of Ukraine as well as a constructive relationship with neighbouring Russia.
This Political Breakfast with Konstantin I. Grishchenko sets forth the tradition of dialogue with the countries of the Western CIS. This series includes, for instance, the 134th Bergedorf Round Table in Odessa 2006 and the 129th Bergedorf Round Table in Lviv as well as a Political Breakfast with Oleksandr Chaly , Deputy Head of the Administration of the Ukrainian President.
The Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of senior foreign policy players to its Background Discussions . As is the case with the Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place confidentially and away from public attention.
