Background Discussion with Martti Ahtisaari
Berlin, February 26, 2007
|
Martti Ahtisaari, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Kosovo, discussed policy options regarding the future of Kosovo with German parliamentarians and senior government representatives, only weeks after Mr. Ahtisaari’s recommendations on Kosovo’s final status were released.
The discussion centered on the question of how the international community, represented by the Kosovo Contact Group currently meeting in Vienna, could arrive at a common position and what operational steps would be required in the shorter- to medium term.
The Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of outstanding foreign affairs practitioners to its Background Discussions. As in the larger Bergedorf Round Tables the discussions take place in confidence and away from public notice.
