Political Breakfast with Rangin Dadfar Spanta

Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, discussed the current situation in his country at a Körber Foundation Political Breakfast.He identified fighting terrorism and narcotics production as the Afghanistan's main challenges, together with establishing a strong and stable state. He emphasized that sustainable and democratic development for Afghanistan would be possible only if the West maintained and expanded its commitment there. The discussion also touched upon the roles of the United States, the EU, Pakistan, and Iran in the region.
Foreign Minister Spanta spoke with members of the German Bundestag as well as government officials, military officers, and scholars from selected think tanks.
The Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle from within Berlin's foreign policy community to its Background Discussions . As in the larger Bergedorf Round Table, the discussions take place in confidence, away from public attention.
