At a Political Breakfast with Volodymyr Khandoghiy, First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, representatives from the Federal Chancellery, the Federal President’s Office, the Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Armed Forces as well as experts from selected think tanks discussed the relations between NATO and Ukraine with regard to the outcomes of the Bucharest NATO summit.
The Political Breakfast with Volodymyr Khandogiy continues Körber Foundation’s tradition of dialogue with the countries of the Western CIS. This series has included the Bergedorf Round Tables on (Odessa, 2006), (Potsdam, 2005), (Lviv, 2004), along with a Political Background Discussion with Sergei N. Martynov , Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Political Breakfasts with Mikhail Margelov , Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Konstantin I. Grishchenko , former Foreign Minister of Ukraine and Foreign Policy Adviser to the Ukrainian Minister President, and Konstantin Kosachev , Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of high-ranking actors within Berlin’s foreign policy community to its Background Discussions. As in the larger Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place shielded from the public, so as to enable a confidential, frank and constructive exchange.
