Political Breakfast with Vladimir Chizhov

What is the state of relations between the European Union and Russia? Vladimir Chizhov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the EU, spoke with representatives from the German Bundestag and government on the challenges facing EU-Russian ties. These include efforts to negotiate a new Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and contrasting policies toward Kosovo, Central Asia, Ukraine, and Belarus. Chizhov also gave his views on U.S. plans to build anti-missile facilities in Europe and the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty.

This Political Breakfast with Vladimir Chizhov continues the Körber Foundation’s tradition of dialog with Russia. Earlier events have included the 134th Bergedorf Round Table, , held in Odessa in 2006, the 131st Bergedorf Round Table on in Berlin and Potsdam in 2005, and Political Breakfasts with President Vladimir Putin’s domestic policy advisor Viktor Ivanov , and Sergei Yastrzhembsky , Russian Special Representative to the EU.

The Körber Foundation regularly invites small groups of senior foreign affairs specialists in Berlin to its Background Discussions. As in the larger Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place confidentially and away from public scrutiny.
