Political Breakfast with Hassan Rohani

Dr. Hassan Rohani is a member of the Supreme National Security Council, the Expediency Council and a member of the Assembly of Experts of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is President of the Center for Strategic Research. He spent some time in Berlin at the invitation of the Körber Foundation and spoke to members of the German Bundestag, representatives from the Foreign Ministry and the Federal Ministry of Defence about the current challenges in the Middle East. The Tehran politician particularly concentrated on political and military developments in Iraq and Afghanistan and presented his view on the role played by the United States and the EU in the region.
The Political Breakfast with Hassan Rohani continues the tradition maintained by the Körber Foundation of pursuing dialogue with Iran. The guests at other Political Breakfasts have included Saeed Jalili , Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs, Alaeddin Boroujerdi , Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Foreign Affairs, and former Iranian President, Mohammad Khatami .
The Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of senior Berlin foreign policy professionals to its Background Discussions . As is the case with the Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place confidentially and away from public attention.
