Berlin, 28. November 2008

Vuk Jeremic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, met with members of the German Bundestag and representatives of the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Defense as well as the Federal Chancellery to discuss the latest developments on the Western Balkans.

The discussion dealt with the competences of the EULEX mission in Kosovo to which the UN Security Council had given its backing shortly before the Background Discussion. It also focused on the relationship between Serbia and the European Union.

The background discussion with Vuk Jeremic continues Körber Foundation’s engagement with the Western Balkans. This series has included Political Breakfasts with Jovan Radkovic, advisor to the President of the Republic of Serbia, Wolfgang Ischinger, the former EU representative at the Kosovo Status Talks, Martti Ahtisaari, the former UN Special Envoy for Kosovo; as well as the field trip of the Körber Network Foreign Policy to Belgrade, Pristina and Prizren.

Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of high-ranking representatives of the Berlin foreign policy community to its Political Background Talks. As at the Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place shielded from the public, so as to enable a confidential, frank and constructive exchange.
