Young Leaders Discuss with Prominent Politicians at 45th Munich Security Conference
German Defence Minister Jung and Henry Kissinger at First Meeting of Munich Young Leaders from 5 to 8 February
At the invitation of the Munich Security Conference and Körber Foundation, 25 junior politicians and young leaders from eastern Europe, northern Africa, the Middle East and Germany will have the opportunity to exchange views with members of the international security policy elite. Furthermore, the Munich Young Leaders will take part in the programme of the Munich Security Conference.
In addition to Jung and Kissinger, the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Poland and Pakistan, Miliband, Sikorski and Qureshi, will be discussing topical issues related to Transatlantic security policy with the Munich Young Leaders.
Among the Munich Young Leaders are Jan Hamácek (30), chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Czech Parliament, and Nawaf Obaid (34), Saudi strategy specialist. Nino Kalandadze (31), deputy foreign minister of Georgia: “The Munich Young Leaders include participants from EU and NATO states and from countries in the neighbourhood of Europe. This makes it possible to have a constructive dialogue.”
Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger, chairman of the Munich Security Conference, commented on cooperation with Körber Foundation: “With the Munich Young Leaders, we want to send out a signal that the promotion of the young generation in foreign and security policy matters to us .” Similarly, Dr. Klaus Wehmeier, Vice Chairman of Körber Foundation’s Executive Board: “The Munich Young Leaders complement the activities of the Körber Network Foreign Policy, in which we encourage and support selected junior foreign policy experts in Berlin.”
