The Role of International Guarantors for a Peace Settlement in the Middle East

The second workshop of the project »A ‘Westphalia’ for the Middle East?« was held in Berlin and focused on the role of international guarantors of a possible peace settlement in the Middle East. High-ranking politicians and experts, among them Ezzeldin Ramzy, Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary General on Syria, Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary General League of Arab States, and Igor Morozov, Committee on Foreign Affairs, Federation Council, Federal Assembly of Russia discussed rules and mechanisms of a guarantee system. Inspired by the peace settlement of Westphalia participants discussed who could be a potential international guarantor in the Middle East.
