Hamburg, 7-9 November 2014
The 157th Bergedorf Round Table, which was held in in Hamburg from 7-9 November 2014, focused on the responsibility of old and new global trading powers against the backdrop of international power shifts. 35 high-ranking politicians, senior officials and selected experts from Europe, the US, and Asia debated key questions regarding the international order, maritime security and fragile statehood: How can the West deal with rising trading powers in Asia? Is there a common understanding about the meaning of global values and responsibility for public goods? How can emerging powers contribute to the fight against extremism or to maritime security in regions of key interest to global trading powers?
