Days of Exile was initiated by Herbert and Elsbeth Weichmann Stiftung in 2016. Herta Müller, author and Nobel laureate for literature, was patron of the first Days of Exile.
At the opening event, the patron, Herta Müller, spoke about the historical and contemporary experiences of refugees. Herta Müller, a Nobel laureate for Literature, has been campaigning for a Museum of Exile for many years. Germany is now a place of hope for refugees. Can we learn from history? The event was organised together with Herbert und Elsbeth Weichmann Stiftung and other partners, and was moderated by Doerte Bischoff from the University of Hamburg.
