On 9 July members of the Körber Network Foreign Policy from the German Parliament, the Office of the Chancellor, a number of ministries and selected embassies and think tanks visited the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion at Theodor Körner Barracks in Lüneburg. They were welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Christian Freuding, the commander of the battalion and a Körber Network Foreign Policy alumnus, who also provided a brief introduction to the unit’s activities. The participants then had the opportunity to find out something about the normal operational work of the German Army’s reconnaissance section.
This was followed by a round-table discussion with soldiers from the battalion entitled “The Afghanistan Mission. First-hand Experiences.” It was moderated by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Freuding. The programme ended with a conducted tour around the ancient city centre of Lüneburg.
