On 18 January 2018, members of the Körber Network Foreign Policy visited the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE) in Szczecin, Poland. During the visit, the network’s members were briefed by representatives from several MNC NE divisions on the history and the various tasks of the Corps. Being the only NATO Headquarter with a clearly defined regional focus, the MNC NE takes on responsibilities and tasks in Poland, the Baltic States, Slovakia and Hungary. In accordance with NATO’s Readiness Action Plan the Corps developed the capability to command NATO’s “spearhead force”, the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force. With its responsibilities and capabilities, the MNC NE plays an important role in the command structure of NATO.
The briefings were followed by an exchange with the Command Group. Lieutenant General Manfred Hofmann, Commander of MNC NE, Brigadier General Krzysztof Król, Deputy Commander, and Brigadier General Per Orluff Knudsen, Chief of Staff, discussed civil-military relations and the status of NATO-Russia relations with the members of the Körber Network Foreign Policy.
The program was rounded off with a guided tour of the city center of Szczecin.
