The idea

The festival invites students and lecturers from theatre directing courses at German-language universities to Thalia’s venue in Hamburg’s Gaußstraße. Up to 13 productions are shown over a period of five days. At the end of the festival, a jury made up of five theatre professionals chooses the production that they consider the best one. The festival is a joint project run by Thalia Theater, the Körber Foundation and Theaterakademie Hamburg, and it takes place under the auspices of the Deutsche Bühnenverein.
