Ben Barry, Senior Fellow for Land Warfare, and Douglas Barrie, Senior Fellow for Military Aerospace, of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), discussed with members of the Körber Network Foreign Policy on the occasion of the publication of The Military Balance 2015.

Ambassador Alexander Grushko, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to NATO was the speaker of the Munich Young Leaders’ last background discussion on Saturday. Venue and topic were the same as with Alexander Vershbow – but the perspective was quite different.

After an intense morning with speeches by Angela Merkel and Sergey Lavrov the Munich Young Leaders pivoted back to the Middle East over lunch. Qatari foreign minister Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Attiyah took the participants on a regional “tour d’horizon”.

For the Munich Young Leaders 2015 the second conference day began with a discussion about current challenges for NATO. At an early-bird working breakfast with Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow the focus was, again, on the conflict in Ukraine.
