"A clear change in Russia's actions is required."

In an interview with the Körber Foundation NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg underlined that a clear change in Russia's actions is required to improve the relations to NATO. A change which demonstrates Russia’s compliance with its international obligations and responsibilities.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was keynote speaker of a Political Breakfast at the Berlin Office of the Körber Foundation. In a written interview for the Körber Foundation, Secretary General Stoltenberg commented on the current NATO-Russia relationship.

"For over two decades, NATO worked hard to build a partnership with Russia. We created the NATO-Russia Council, giving Russia more access than any other partner country at NATO. And we managed to cooperate on many issues, including counter-terrorism and Afghanistan."

But today, Stoltenberg said, it is clear that NATO and Russia have deep disagreements. The worsening of relations is a direct result of Russia’s destabilising actions in Ukraine and its illegitime annexation of Crimea.
