Political Breakfasts

At the Political Breakfasts, high-ranking members of the Berlin foreign policy community conduct confidential background discussions with leading politicians from abroad. High-ranking speakers, among them heads of state, foreign ministers and other influential politicians from Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the CIS states, discuss current political topics with a selected circle of foreign and security policy decision-makers, especially from the German Parliament, the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Chancellery, the Federal Ministry of Defence and selected think tanks.

For the speakers, the Political Breakfasts constitute an opportunity to conduct a confidential 90-minute discussion with key decision-makers in German foreign and security policy.

Among the distinguished speakers at the Political Breakfasts and background discussions were Hina Rabbani Khar, Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Sun Jiazheng, Vice-Chairman of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Li Jinjun, Vice Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Saad Hariri, President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Lebanon, Ahmet Davutoğlu, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Crown Prince of Bahrain, Mikheil Saakashvili, President of Georgia, Salman Khurshid, External Affairs Minister of India, and General David H. Petraeus, ISAF Commander & Commander of U.S. Forces Afghanistan.
