Krzysztof Lisek, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, met with members of the German Bundestag as well as with representatives of the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Foreign Office to discuss current issues of Polish foreign and security policy. Furthermore, the discussion focused on the EU’s relations with its Eastern neighbors, the “Eastern Partnership” initiative, which was agreed upon at the recent EU Summit, and European energy security.
The Political Breakfast with Krzysztof Lisek continues Körber Foundation’s tradition of dealing with foreign and security policy issues. This series includes the Political Breakfasts with Helga Schmid, Head of the Political Staff of the High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy and Secretary General of the EU Council, and with Michel Miraillet, Director of the Department for Strategic Affairs in the French Ministry of Defence, as well as the 138th Bergedorf Round Table on the topic “Can the EU Ensure Europe’s Security?” (Warsaw 2007).
Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of high-ranking actors within Berlin’s foreign policy community to its Political Background Discussions. As in the Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place shielded from the public, so as to enable a confidential, frank, and constructive exchange.
