Noh Kyu-Duk, Director-General for the Korean Peninsula Peace Regime of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, met in Berlin with representatives from the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Defence as well as selected experts. Among other topics the discussion focused on the possibility of denuclearization of North Korea and confidence building measures that are necessary for the negotiations. In this context, Noh underlined the readiness for dialogue of South Korea in case Pyongyang shows sincere willingness to make concessions. He emphasized that the European states should exercise influence on North Korea by concerted and joint political approach and employing their diplomatic ties to encourage the North Korean regime to change its position.
