General Raheel Sharif, Pakistan’s Chief of the Army, met in Berlin with Members of the German Bundestag, representatives from government agencies and Berlin-based think tanks to talk about security challenges in Pakistan and the region. He called the war against terrorism a matter of survival for Pakistan. At the same time he stressed the necessity of a multilateral and unified approach against terrorist groups and their sponsors. Further topics of the discussion were the domestic challenges and the role of the army in Pakistan’s society.
