Berlin, 9 April 2019
António Vitorino, recently appointed Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), met with members of the German Bundestag, representatives from different ministries and experts for a Political Breakfast at Körber Foundation. Vitorino spoke about the "Global Pact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration", which was endorsed by 164 states in December. Further topics included the impact of climate change on international migration, future economic and demographic developments on the African continent and the prospect of a common European migration policy after the European elections.
Körber Foundation regularly invites a small circle of high-ranking actors within Berlin’s foreign policy community to its Political Background Discussions. As at the Bergedorf Round Tables, the discussions take place in a confidential setting, so as to enable a frank and constructive exchange.
