AI and education

The importance of AI in education lies, among other things, in its ability to recognise progress through data analysis of learning levels and to adapt teaching content to meet individual needs and abilities. This makes it possible to close gaps in understanding and increase motivation. Particularly in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), AI is proving to be a revolutionary tool that not only improves the learning process, but also drives research and innovation.

However, a steady expansion of AI in education poses challenges for those with less access to technologically advanced resources. Not only does the current impact of the spread of AI in education play a role, but also the question of what this could mean for teaching and learning in the future. In view of the AI revolution, pupils will need new skills in the future as well as the ability – just like parents – to develop a critical and reflective approach to the topic. This requires a change from the current role of mostly passive users to active makers and creators. There is a need for programmes that enable children and young people, as well as parents and teachers, to develop a basic understanding of the topic and to acquire and strengthen the relevant skills.
