THE Berlin Pulse: International expectations on German foreign policy

“A vibrant democracy and strong economy like Germany has to be active in the international community“, argues the former US Secretary of StateCondoleezza Rice in the new publication The Berlin Pulse. It contrasts German attitudes to German foreign policy based on a representative survey with international expectations by high-ranking politicians.

The future of the EU, transatlantic relations or crises in Europe’s neighborhood – what are domestic and international expectations for German foreign policy with respect to these challenges? And what does Germany‘s increased international responsibility imply? Körber-Stiftung’s new publication The Berlin Pulse (PDF) provides answers.

By contrasting these different perspectives in THE BERLIN PULSE, Körber-Stiftung wants to advance the discussion on Germany’s international role. „In times of domestic intricacies, it is even more important to call attention to Germany’s international responsibility and expectations of its partners“, says Nora Müller, Körber-Stiftung’s Executive Director for International Affairs. “The Berlin Pulse makes an important contribution to this debate”.

The Berlin Pulse is published annually at the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum.
