Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki in Berlin

At the occasion of his visit to Germany on 21 March 2013, Moncef Marzouki, President of the Republic of Tunisia, delivered a speech in Berlin upon invitation of the Körber Foundation. The audience was made up of about 200 invited guests. They include politicians, government representatives, experts, journalists, and members of civil society organizations and of the younger generation. Following an introduction by Deputy Chairman of the Koerber Foundation, Dr. Klaus Wehmeier, Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki reminded in Berlin that the events in Tunisia were the starting point for the Arab Spring that led to fundamental changes in many Arab states. At the same time, he warned that at this point it was not yet clear whether the Tunisian revolution and the revolutions in other Arab states would eventually be successful.
