In a dialogue with partners in politics and society, it provides stimuli for debate:
- How the EU's cohesion, capacity to act and legitimacy can be strengthened despite profound differences between the member states
- How the EU's fundamental values, in particular democracy and the rule of law, can be protected
- What lessons can be learnt from the history of European integration to overcome the current crisis
- How ways out of the crisis and (economic) reconstruction can be created effectively and collectively.
With a view to the German EU Council Presidency in the second half of 2020, we would like to pay special attention to Germany's contribution.
With its focus topic “Keeping Europe Together”, Körber-Stiftung is contributing to the debate on the past, present and future of the European project. To this end, the foundation addresses the challenges of European integration, foreign and security policy, as well as the historical roots of current conflicts. Questions of political culture, the politics of history, identity and values as well as prospects for cooperation at state, supranational and civil society levels are also central to the focus topic.
The partners in this dialogue are social thought leaders, (foreign) policy makers and multipliers of cross-border understanding. Körber-Stiftung attaches particular importance to bringing representatives of the next generation into an exchange with one another.
The aim of this dialogue work is to name different points of view and values and to identify commonalities. Körber-Stiftung wants to strengthen actors in politics and society who are committed to a common vision of the European project.
“Keeping Europe together” is a focus topic in the field of action “International Dialogue”.
